Reducing anxiety for new patients

Thanks to your generous support, we’ve been able to fund the cost of vCreate for the third year running.

If you have a baby who needs to stay in hospital, there are likely to be times when you can’t be by your baby’s cot. You may live a long way from the hospital, have other children to care for or simply need to go home to sleep.

vCreate is reducing separation anxiety by allowing nurses to record and send parents video updates of their babies when they can’t be by their sides in our Neonatal and Paediatric Units at Princess Anne Hospital.

During quieter periods, nurses take photos or record short video updates on iPads and send them by text or email. Over time, these build up a secure video diary of a baby’s time on the unit.

“I honestly don’t think I would have coped with being at home at any point during Asta’s stay at the neonatal unit without my vCreates.

They helped me to feel included in every part of Asta’s early days and seeing her put my mind at rest whilst we were apart. I would like to say thank you!”
