Southampton Children’s Hospital
Southampton Children’s Hospital is one of only three hospitals to provide all specialist paediatric services on one site.
It treats over 165,000 children each year from across the UK.
Everyone deserves the best care as they age. As well as diagnosis and treatment, we give advice on managing multiple conditions and complex needs.
Help us to place our patients at the heart of everything we do by creating a world class department for the care of older people over the age of 65.
We’re leaders in treating cancer. Our oncology unit is one of 12 UK regional cancer centres, and we change lives beyond our hospital through international drug trials.
We are developing as a global centre of excellence, and are treating more and more patients from outside the Wessex area.
Research And Development
Improving healthcare for the benefit of patients is at the heart of everything we do. Thousands of Southampton patients have some of the best access to new therapies and technologies in the UK.
Clinical research is how we develop new treatments and knowledge for better health and care, building the evidence for new approaches that are safe and effective.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Our state-of-the-art unit gives specialist care for premature and sick babies.
We look after 900 babies a year and support them and their parents through tough times.
Our community is a centre of excellence for maternity care for around 6,000 women each year, providing comprehensive support for parents and babies throughout pregnancy.
We offer a full range of birth options (including home birth) and specialist treatment for women with problems during pregnancy and babies with extra needs.
The Wessex Neurological Centre provides treatment for disorders affecting the brain, spine and nerves.
The centre serves a population of over three million people and treats patients from across the South, including the Channel Islands.
Modern catheter labs. Specialist cardiac intensive care unit. A dedicated cardiac scanner.
Our community is fully equipped to care for everyone’s heart health as one of the largest and most reputable cardiac centres in the UK.
We’re proud to be the leading provider of eye care services on the south coast.
Every year over 90,000 people trust our highly-skilled specialists with their sight, whether that’s fitting contact lenses or treating blindness. Plus, we offer specialist children’s eye services including essential family support.
Emergency And Critical Care
We’re one of only two major trauma centres in the south of England. That means we have the best facilities to treat anyone with serious multiple injuries.
Our general intensive care unit can offer one-to-one nursing care, while our emergency and trauma department is open 24/7 every day of the year.
