Over £37,000 raised at the ABP Southampton Marathon
Southampton Hospitals Charity is proud to announce that over 125 runners took part in the ABP Southampton Marathon yesterday (Sunday 6 April), raising more than £37,000 to help our local hospitals go even further for patients.
As the lead local charity partner for this year’s event, we were overwhelmed by the show of community spirit, determination, and generosity displayed across all four race distances – from the 5K to the full marathon.
Many of those running for the charity had personal connections to University Hospital Southampton. Some were former patients giving back in thanks for the care they received, while others were running in honour of loved ones who have undergone life-saving treatment.
The funds raised will help us continue to support life-changing projects, cutting-edge equipment, innovative research, and enhanced experiences for patients and their families across the hospital.
We were based in the Charity Village on the day, where we had the chance to meet runners before they set off and welcome them back with well-earned snacks and refreshments after crossing the finish line.
This incredible achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the support of every runner, fundraiser, volunteer, and donor who made the day so special.
