Christmas photoshoot to thank Southampton’s neurological team

In early November 2021, Katie Brown was rushed to the Wessex Neurological Centre at University Hospital Southampton after her sister found her collapsed at home.

As soon as she arrived, scans and tests revealed that she had suffered a brain aneurysm (bleed on the brain) and emergency surgery was performed immediately to save her life.

After nearly a month in hospital, Katie is now back home and beginning her road to recovery. Her employee, First Steps Nursery in Poole, Dorset, is now raising money for Southampton Hospitals Charity.

Nursery Manager, Lauren Cook, explains: “Katie has been a valued member of our team for two years, and when we heard what had happened, we knew we had to do something to give back to the NHS.

We set up some Christmas themed photoshoots for local families in lieu of donations to the specific neurological wards which treated Katie while she was in hospital.

The fundraiser has already raised over £600, and we are still going. Thank you for everyone’s support!”
