Hospital Heroes Charity Star Award

Congratulations to everyone who was nominated for the 2019-20 Southampton Hospitals Charity Star Award.

Every year we have our own Charity award as part of UHS Hospital Heroes. This award recognises an individual or team within the hospital who have gone above and beyond to raise money for a hospital area within UHS.

The winners were the Peru trekkers having raised over £25,000 for University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

Healthcare Assistant, Inez Walker, won the runners up prize for taking part in multiple running events in 2019 across the UK – well done Inez!

Congratulations to the hospital-based Peru trekkers – Cathy Thomsen, Fiona Fordyce Fleur Bacharach, Calum Rowe , Sol Oliveira, and Donna Parsons.

They were raising money for all over the hospital including the E2 young adult unit, the spinal ward, cardiology services, C3 Hamwic ward, the general intensive care unit, and E1 children’s cardiac patients.

Peru trekkers, Southampton Hospitals Charity

In October 2019, the trekkers took on Machu Picchu in Peru. This was an incredible five day trek for all who took part in the challenge as they dealt with acclimisation to 4,200m, walking the length of a full marathon.

Congratulations to the Peru team for this well deserved award!
