Completing her first marathon
Congratulations to Natalija Edwards for completing the Portsmouth Coastal Marathon in support of our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
“I always was a keen runner, but my usual running distance was around six miles.
At the beginning of 2021, I set myself the challenge to run a marathon before my 40th birthday which was in January 2022.
I wanted it to be a challenge and so my target was to finish under 4 hours 30 min. I completely smashed my target and finished in exactly 4 hours!
I am immensely proud of my achievement. It was not easy, but I thoroughly enjoyed the event!
I chose to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit through Southampton Hospitals Charity as my son was born four weeks early.
Although he was small, he was healthy.
It was really worrying when he decided to arrive in this world so early, so I can only imagine what other parents go through when their children needs intensive or special care.
The unit does amazing work, so running for the hospital charity was a real privilege.”

24 April: ABP Southampton Marathon
Designed to support all types of runner, the ABP Southampton Marathon gives you the chance to compete in a 10km, half marathon or marathon.

1 May: Romsey Relay Marathon
Returning for the eighth time in 2022, the Romsey Relay Marathon is your opportunity to get together with friends, family, and NHS colleagues for a fun-filled day out.
You can take on the relay challenge with up to 10 people per team, or as one individual running the whole marathon.
Anytime throughout 2022: Action Challenge treks
Walk, Jog or Run at your own pace on the Ultra Challenge Series event. There are 14 events to choose from all across the UK, with three distances to help push yourself further.
